Denise DeLorme & students promote responsible boating

Dr. Denise DeLorme and UCF students are working to promote ecologically responsible boating in the Mosquito Lagoon! Their campaign, called Reel Florida, aims to to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the valuable and sensitive marine life and habitats of Mosquito Lagoon.

Mosquito Lagoon, just north of Cape Canaveral in central Florida, is home to oyster reefs, sea grasses, mangroves, and marsh cord grass, which are are crucial to the health of the Lagoon and have very real and local economic impacts. The Reel Florida campaign is funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration through the Florida Sea Grant program and is in collaboration with the University of Central Florida, University of Florida, and the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program.
